Goldmine e-mail VERY slow to open

Hi There,
We have approx 8 Goldmine licenses in our office.  Using Goldmine 6.7.50123.  We are going to be updating to the most recent version of 6.7 on Monday.  Hopefully that will improve things.   Not sure how much the updates cost.  Used to be able to upgrade over the internet but get an eror message when trying to upgrade.  

Anyway, goldmine e-mail is VERY slow to open.  Takes over a few minutes to open e-mails with attachments.  I do like having the attachments linked to the clients for compliance purposes.  The Mailbox folder is 1.14GB.  It was 1.9GB up until yesterday when I went through & deleted a bunch of attachments.  

Running Windows XP, service pack 2, internet explorer 7, and AVG Network Edition 8.0 (the paid version).  

Any ideas?
I looked at previous post & tried setting up new User on Goldmine, set up my e-mail preferences there.  Was still slow to open.

1. The update should be free, but you will need to get it from someone who has it. I recommend that you select a FR Solutions Partner from among those on these boards, and work with that person. (Not me, I'm not one).

2. Until you either a) downgrade to IE6 or b) upgrade to 6.7.70226, or GM7.x, or GM8.x, you can expect serious problems with E-mail. You are running incompatible programs. I wouldn't recommend 7.x

3. Reducing the size of the Mailbox from 1.9 GB to 1.14 GB by deleting attachments is impossible, because attachments are not stored in the Mailbox table. Apparently, you deleted E-mails, not attachments.

4. Maintaining GoldMine before the update is a good idea, but if you have not already made a relationship with someone to get the update file, planning to do it on Monday may be a bit overly optimistic. You need to be better prepared, I think.

Have you tried turning off your AV software on the network? Ensure that is not set to scan any access to network drives. This will kill the performance of GoldMine, seeing as how it is constantly scanning and making changes to files across the network.

Try excluding gmw6.exe from the AV software if possible.

I agree with both Bob Taylor and Ronan.  You do need to upgrade to 6.70.70226 (should be a free upgrade) so that you are compatible with IE7.
