Word link 224 much slower than 217

Hi

The GoldMine Word link 6.7.217 is the one distributed with GMPE 8.0.2. In 8.0.3 a new version 6.7.224 was released.

At two client sites now we've found that this is much slower. Word merge speed can often be improved by looking at anti-virus, making sure than the default printer is on line and some other measures but despite all this we believe that 224 is much slower.

Easiest way to downgrade is perhaps to do the full install, get the GMLINK.DOT file then copy to appropriate locations on other machines.

Be good to hear of other experiences. We will report this to FrontRange.

Don't think we did. However I did see from a post (by you I think) that the separate installer was also not recommended.

Mine is definately slower as well.  I have 8.03 and Gmlink 224.

Even if I am merging one contact, the template is so slow to open that sometimes I forget I am opening a template and move to a different record, only to find Word has opened later with the wrong contact information.

I'm going to try going back to 217.

I removed the GM Plus for Office and the GMLINK.dot and reinstalled the gmlinkinstaller.exe from the partner site under 8.02.

Definitely 6.7.217. We put it in everywhere with 8.0.3 and it is fine.

However does not work with GM 7.5 which has to use the new link which has some interaction issues.

Yes, do not install the link that comes with 8.03 and use the one from the 8.02 install (.217)

Hi Paul - we found the problem.  We did have the correct version of the link etc etc, but when Word had been installed they did not put in a Username (?) and that causes add-ins such as GMLink to fail.
