|
|
Hi All,
Has anyone had any experience setting up telephony integration for GoldMine 6.7. We have recently purchased an Avaya IP Office Solution for our phone system, which is "supposed" to integrate with GoldMine. I have set up the TAPI Driver in Windows, Configured the settings in GoldMines Telephony tab, however when I go to make a call, GoldMine is not registering me taking the phone off hook. It shows me a phone dialer dialog which says Dialing, then below the status is "Status: Pick up the handset..." I really need to know how to make this work, and everything I have tried so far hasn't.
Really hoping Someone knows about this,
Aaron |

| There is a pickup button and a cancel button on the bottom of the dialog. I try clicking on the Pick up button as well, but when I do it says disconnecting the modem. |

You need to get some outside help. I know of no one that has been able to get SoftPhone in GoldMine working against VoIP. I'm not even sure that the dialer is still working.
You might try getting some assistance from:

Thanks for your reply. We are not interested in VOIP, so I think that rules out the softphone, but we just need the dialer to work. Do you have any clues as to when the dialer stopped working? Avaya, who is a very large phone company has documentation on how to set up this TAPI integration, though following their steps does not result in anything fruitful. One of the big reasons we purchased this phone system and then upgraded GoldMine is for the sole purpose of dialing contacts from there.
I looked at the Papillon Technology offerings and if memory serves they were almost as expensive as the GoldMine licenses.
Do you think FrontRange would be able to help me get this up and running if I purchased some support from them?
Thanks,
Aaron |

Honestly, I don't think that FrontRange would be of any assistance to you. You would do better, cheaper, by going through a knowledgable VAR. Not me in this case. Dave Dunlap, or Doug Castell are probably most knowledgable in this area. _________________ DJ Hunt

Heya
I was looking into a Avaya IP office solution (we currently run an argent branch)
I was told we had to use Phone manager pro (an IP office product) to get this working....
(From Avaya's website)
Phone Manager Pro
Phone Manager Pro builds upon Phone Manager Lite by offering the following additional features:
- Integration with Contact Management packages (such as Outlook, GoldMine, ACT! and Maximizer) to facilitate screen popping of the contact details of an incoming caller, dialing from the contact record with a simple mouse click and simple creation of new contact records with auto-insertion of the telephone number whilst on a call.
Phone manager pro supports GM / ACT etc "out of the box" i.e there are clear options to 'tick' to enable screen popping dialing from gm etc (at least the demo I saw did!)
If you have this product I would talk to your switch maintainer on help with this - - if not as suggested above find a good GM VAR to help
hope this helps
- Bryan
***edit I assume you've seen this however if you have not
http://support.avaya.com/elmodocs2/ip_office/jobaids/051_tapi_user.pdf
tells you how to configure GM / install TAPI drivers etc
***edit
fyi you *Should* be able to get a 10 user trial from your current switch provider for PMPRO to see if it suits your needs, however the above linky seems to do what you need
'shrug'
again hope this helps

We are a GM partner and an IPO partner.
The following applies.
1. You need Phone Manager Pro to get any first party TAPI working with the IP Office.
2. The GoldMine dialer was designed to be used with a computer modem where you loop a phone across the line. Once the modem has dialed the call you pick up the handset and then press the pickup button in GoldMine which hangs up the modem. Pressing the pickup button will hang up the call! You must leave the dialer box open while the call is active. Of course this prevents you from performing any other action in GoldMine while the call is active.
3. There is no way around this. We asked FR for many years to make GoldMine Tapi compliant. Use Tapi Link for GoldMine from Papillon Technology to provide any reasonable TAPI functionality with GoldMine.

We are using Phone Manager Pro right now. I concur that the Avaya TAPI driver is working okay, and that GoldMine is causing the issue. I find it deceptive however that Avaya advertises their product as being able to integrate with GoldMine, when GoldMine itself is not TAPI compliant.
Quote from the Avaya IP Office site:
"TAPI-compliant out of the box. IP Office integrates easily with popular contact management applications such as Outlook, ACT!6, GoldMine and Maximizer. Sophisticated custom applications can be rapidly developed and deployed with our full software development kit."
It hard to 'easily' integrate with an application that doesnt fully support that integration.
- Now I was talking to someone at the reseller we deal with and they mentioned that there is a need to properly configure your INI files (perhaps PREDIAL.INI i think it was), so that Goldmine knows what to do when you click the pick up button. As you say, the phone will hang up if you click the pick up button, which seems a bit backwards. Does anyone have any thought on this need to configure an INI file to dictate what happens in the GoldMine dialer?
Thanks |

Well the problem is it does work. GoldMine is TAPI compliant, i think it is TAPI 0.9 or something like that (just supports modems)
1. You can dial-out you just can't do anything in GoldMine while the call is active.
2. Phone Manager Pro will pop the contact but only looks at Phone1.
Don't worry we have all been caught :( |

We had the same Problem with another Telephone Office Solution. But we solved the issue with another app. You need answers about following questions.
- You want to see the contact informations from the incoming call?
- You want to dial out from every phone number in goldmine?
- You want to start and stop the timer automatically when the call is start or stop?
- ....
- Is the Telephone Office Solution compliant in the LAN?
- Is the Solution Client installed?
- Is the Tapi-Line recognized in the system?
- or you have a Find + Phone Server?
- ....
Here you can download the JustDial for GM Solution
http://www.megasolution.de/download/CTI/JustDialGM.exe
You can evaluate the app for 30 min after the install. |

I can't speak for 6.7 but I have used 5.5-6.5 non-CE and I have had my modem dial my calls for me for 2 years until I moved to an office with PBX. When I had it set up to dial out on my modem, I would press pick up and it would close the window and NOT hang up the line. It worked great. |
